The Nokia C7 sits at the top of the C Series range, boasting a wide array of premium features in an attractive, compact package.
It's been around since the tail end of 2010, but thanks to the new Symbian Anna software update you can now bring your Nokia C7 right up to date with the newest smartphones in Nokia's Symbian arsenal.
Key Symbian Anna features
So what are the primary changes that Symbian Anna brings to the Nokia C7? Here are the highlights:
Fresh new icons: Symbian Anna does away with the square icon design of Symbian^3 for a more attractive rounded look. It immediately gives the Nokia C7 a whole different look and feel, and it's a change for the better.
QWERTY keyboard: also new is a portrait-style on-screen QWERTY keyboard for added flexibility. Until now the full QWERTY keyboard was only available when you were holding the Nokia C7 in landscape orientation.
Split-screen text entry: another small but significant change Symbian Anna introduces is split-screen text entry, which enables you to type using the QWERTY keyboard without leaving the page you're filling in.
New web browser: Symbian Anna also brings with it a revamped web browser, Nokia Browser 7.3, which brings with it a variety of improvements, but most importantly it's faster than before.
NFC on the Nokia C7
The Nokia C7 is unique among Nokia's high-end smartphone lineup in that it has a Near Field Communcation (NFC) chip built in. With the arrival of Symbian Anna, that chip has now been activated, meaning you can start to enjoy features like instant pairing with NFC-capable Bluetooth accessories simply by tapping your phone against them, and hassle-free file transfer between two NFC-enabled phones just by tapping them together.
How to upgrade
If you haven't yet upgraded your Nokia C7 to Symbian Anna, you're missing out on some exciting new features. Its a quick and easy process, all you have to do is connect your Nokia C7 to your PC, fire up Ovi Suite and follow a couple of quick steps, with everything else happening automatically without you having to get involved.
