As with any new phone, there are a couple of tasks to get out of the way first thing with your new Nokia E6 before you can start enjoying its many talents. Here we walk you through setting the correct time and getting to grips with the alarm.

If you've just taken ownership of a new Nokia E6, you're no doubt looking forward to trying out its unique combination of touchscreen convenience and full QWERTY keyboard reliability – not to mention all the great new features that come with the Symbian Anna operating system.
But first, let's make sure you're on the right wavelength when it comes to the time and date, and have a basic understanding of how to work the Nokia E6's on-board alarm.
Setting the time and date
Thanks to the Nokia E6's touchscreen, setting the time and date is simplicity itself. Simply tap the screen on the current time display, and you'll be taken straight to the Clock settings page. This gives you quick access to a couple of key features – you can tap the time to toggle between a digital or analogue display, for instance, or tap the New alarm button for a shortcut to the alarm setting.
To delve deeper into the time and date settings, however, tap Options, then Settings. You can achieve the same result from your homescreen by pressing Menu, Settings, Phone and then Time and Date.
At the top of this settings page is the time itself. Simply tap this setting to set the current time in the field that pops up. Below that is the time zone, followed by the date. These are the main settings to make sure you have correct – they can impact in all sorts of unexpected ways if not, so it's worth doing first thing!
One other feature worth noting on the Clock setting screen is the World clock setting, which is the tab with the globe icon that sits behind the main clock screen. Tap this and you can set up another time zone profile, which is useful if you regularly travel between two different cities, say. It means you can simply switch between profiles rather than having to actively change your time zone each time.
Setting the alarm
To get to grips with the alarm, return to the Clock page and tap the nice big New alarm button in the middle of the screen. There are three fields to set here – the time you want the alarm to go off, the description, which is useful if you've saved a number of different alarms you know you'll typically use in different situations, and the repeat setting.
This last setting is worth a mention, as it allows you to set your alarm to go off every day, once a week, or only on workdays.
However, tap Options and Settings back on the main Clock page and you'll also find a few more alarm-related details you can tweak.
Scroll to the bottom of the Settings page and you'll see options to adjust how long the all-important snooze time is, from as little as a single minute to as long as a full hour. You can also specify exactly which days you want to be treated as “workdays” should you be using that repeat profile – ideal if you work unusual shifts, for example.
