Nokia Maps v3.08 with Weather has been added to the Beta Labs website and builds on the amazing job the guys did with the first version. As you’ll recall, it come with a whole new look and feel to it, as well as new Drive features that now come with live traffic routing information slap bang on the Drive start screen.

However, the big addition is the new Weather app. Nokia Maps v3.08 moved away from having all the various apps and features built into one interface, preferring to break them out so you could drop straight into the maps app, which after all is the main focus of the program.
This means that once you’ve installed Nokia Maps v3.08 with Weather you’ll have a shiny new green icon added to your Nokia N8 applications screen. Tap on this and you’ll find the Weather app has a nice, bright and clear interface. It taps into the GPS on your Nokia N8, so will immediately populate with the weather for your current location. As you can see from our photos below, it was quite sunny when we were testing it out.
Along with temperature in Celsius you can tap the screen and it’ll switch to Fahrenheit, for those who like to work in Imperial. You’ll also find wind direction and speed, as well as sun rise and expected sun set times, which allows you to judge whether you should set out on your journey and drive in daylight, for example.
With Nokia Maps v3.08 with Weather on your Nokia N8 you can check out a single day of weather, or at the push of a button opt for a five-day view. If you want to see what’s likely to happen at any specific time then you can scroll the timer at the of the page and watch the weather forecast roll on. Beyond being a nice little gimmick, we found it scrolled smoothly and has some nice transitions.
Other new additions to Nokia Maps v3.08 include a cleaner UX framework, as well as improved Search results are now easier to read, which is particularly handy if you’re out and about and in a hurry!
It’s worth remembering that Nokia Maps v3.08 with Weather is still very much in Beta stage so you may well find there are a few bugs still to be ironed out. We’ve not really found any, other than that Weather sometimes drops out or fails to load but a quick re-try and things have tended to work out fine.
We’ve tested Nokia Maps v3.08 with Weather on our Nokia N8 running Symbian Anna but you’ll find it’ll work on the whole host of Symbian^3 smartphones, such as Nokia C7, Nokia E7, Nokia X7, Nokia C6-01 and Nokia E6.
