Nokia N8 and Symbian Anna update: your thoughts

We know that the Nokia N8 has a big following – our Nokia N8 Facebook page is testament to that – so with Symbian Anna having landed we've been keen to hear your impressions on what it has to offer. Read on to check out some of the feedback we've been getting.

How big is the Symbian Anna difference for you?

Nokia N8 users have had to be patient for their taste of Symbian Anna, with the Nokia E6 and Nokia X7 arriving with Symbian Anna already on board while Nokia was finalising the update version for existing handsets.

But as of a couple of weeks ago, all of Nokia's former Symbian^3 smartphones have been brought into the shiny new world of Symbian Anna, complete with its new-look icons, portrait QWERTY keyboard and upgrades to a fair few Nokia services.

And Nokia N8 users had another reason to look forward to Symbian Anna, and that's the long-rumoured update to its already top-notch 12-megapixel camera that promised a bump in video frame rate from 24fps to 30fps and a couple of other juicy new features.

We've since learned that the camera update is an entity on its own – it's currently available in beta form courtesy of Nokia Beta Labs – but that it's also far, far bigger than we originally thought, which is great news.

But Symbian Anna is still a significant step forward even without the camera update – as our Nokia N8 running Symbian Anna review attests – and judging from your comments it's not just us that Symbian Anna has impressed.

“OMG!! I love it”Alaann's Malagon

“Loving the new update”Varun Katyal

“A great update”Ben Shakal

“Had no problems with the Nokia N8. Brilliant software, easy to use”Emma Attride

“Anna is visually great and all the little improvements are great as well”Victor Motas

“I love Symbian update for my Nokia N8, it rocks”Vaibhav Sharma

Of course the odd teething issue is unavoidable with any update like this, which is why resources like N8FanClub's 36-point Symbian Anna troubleshooting guide are so useful.

Aside from that, the only other complaint popping up with any regularity was that with Symbian Belle now having been revealed, it's now that update that the Nokia N8 faithful want to see on their phones. All in good time...

Nice Technology Now My N8 Has Became A Communicator….But Themes Becomes More Like A Black & White…..Although it updates many things try it…..

This is a total lie. Those of us in the USA who bought the N8 without carrier support for our purchase still don’t have this update. While I like the phone, I’m not sure I will ever buy another Nokia phone. I feel very much like the ugly step child.

nice article. but nokia has decided to give up on it’s north american clients. i have mixed feelings about the N8. i love the hardware, but the software is garbage. i’m running out of patience and i don’t think i’ll stick around until belle arrives
