You got Symbian Anna on your Nokia E7 yet? The Symbian Anna, update, also known as firmware version 022.014 here in the UK, has been rolling out across various territories for the last few weeks. With a host of new features and a new look and feel to the OS we felt it was time to check out the update. With that in mind join us for the Nokia E7 Symbian Anna review.
The Symbian Anna update weighs in at 310MB on our Nokia E7, which is a hefty sized update. So far it seems the only way you can get a hold of the update is by using the Nokia Software Updater (NSU) either on its own or as part of Ovi Suite. We used the latter as we tend to keep on top of updates easier that way.

Before the Symbian Anna update kicks in you'll find that your Nokia E7 is automatically backed up. Depending on how much stuff you have on your smartphone will depend on how long this will take. In our case, the Nokia E7 backup was carried out in a little over five minutes.
The Nokia E7 Symbian (022.014) update kicked in and with the re-boot of the system we found that it was downloaded and up and running in a little over 10 minutes. Thankfully, it was all straightforward and happened first time, so no need to do anything other than check on the status bar.
That said, we did find that a second update, which consisted of a further 20MB of applications need to be downloaded and installed. So, it's worth checking back with the updater that you have everything installed on your smartphone before unplugging.
Once the Symbian Anna update has taken effect on your Nokia E7, the first thing you'll see is the array of new icons that proliferate the screen. Skip between the homescreens and you'll find things move with a little more fluidity and the fact yu can now preview the oncoming screen is a neat little trick.
The big changes on the Nokia E7 come in the form of the split screen features in many of the apps, such as Calendar, Messaging, Browser, Mail and Maps. Then there is the new Portrait QWERTY keyboard, which is one of the new additions user feedback has prompted Nokia to add.
With the Nokia E7 having a built in QWERTY keyboard we were expecting to see the Portrait keyboard but it's there and with the 4-inch screen of the E7 means the keyboard is an easy-to-use size, so if you're after firing off a quick reply and don't want to use the real keyboard you can always opt to go 'virtual'.
If you've not got ahold of the update yet it's really worth persevering and checking the updater on a regular basis as Symbian Anna makes a visible and notable difference to the smartphone. Things move and roll a whole lot smoother, faster and generally give the Nokia E7 a far more robust feel.
