Control Tower is a quick and addictive game designed with Symbian^3 smartphones in mind. So, we thought we'd check it out on our Nokia N8. See how we got on with this neat flight SIM in our Control Tower Game review on the Nokia N8.

The basic of Control Tower is nice and simple: you're in charge of a busy airport with a limited number of runways, as well as helipads, and you need to bring flights in as quickly and safely as possible.

The cartoony look and feel of Control Tower is nice. The layout is simple, with the graphics having a nice smooth action and a clear feel to the whole game. What we like most about it is that you don't need to get tied down with rules, buttons or instructions.

Being a Symbian^3 game Control Tower has been designed to take full advantage of the touchscreen on your Nokia smartphone, so the the 3.5-inch screen of the Nokia N8 is ideal for the game.

Planes and helicopters make their presence known by a small exclamation mark on the edge of the screen, alerting you to the arrival of a new flight. Once it turns up on screen simply tap it and a runway will be highlighted as its designated target. To get it to land, simple draw a line from the craft to the runway then watch it follow the dotted line created until it lands.

Sounds simple, and it is as long as you've only one or two craft to steer around. The challenge comes when more flights need to land than you have space for. Then you need to start creating flight paths and making sure that nothing collides mid-air.

If there is a collision in Control Tower then it's game over. There are two versions of the game, the free edition, which we've been playing, as well as a full version that offers a choice of runways as well as a number of achievements that add spice to the game. The full version only costs £1 so isn't that great an investment.

In its simple form, Control Tower on the Nokia N8 is a great deal of fun and has that great knack of being addictive enough to keep you coming back. Whether it has long-term appeal is debating but for now we're enjoying bringing the flights home safely and sound!
