With the luxury of a 4-inch AMOLED touchscreen to play with, the Nokia X7 makes for a great blank canvas to try out a new theme. We've been checking out the Treeblight theme, a free download from Nokia Ovi Store. Read on for more details.

In our experience, themes tend to come in two general types – ones that deliver a range of new-look icons and visual features, and a second that rely on the strength of a single image.

Treeblight is of the second type, which we generally tend to avoid because even though the themes we review are free downloads, for us there's more value in the first type.

That said, as we said at the start if there's a smartphone to make the most of a theme based around a single strong image, the Nokia X7 with its 4-inch screen is that phone.

And there's no question that Treeblight delivers a strong image – the moody colours and composition are a perfect match for a wallpaper, and the blurred variation that serves as a Menu background is a good counterpart.

It's the kind of theme that wouldn't really work with its own icons, so we'll forgive the fact that effectively what you're getting here is a pair of wallpapers that serve as backgrounds in different settings.

We're not saying it's the best theme we've come across – far from it – but given its limited remit Treeblight does a good job and is worth trying out for a while.
