Nokia introduced the Nokia E6 business phone a few months ago, and it gave us our first taste of the Symbian Anna operating system, which has now rolled out more widely across Nokia's smartphone lineup.
But the Nokia E6's unique form factor makes it very much one of a kind, so let's delve into how to get to grips with its key functions. Simply click on the links below to go straight to a specific tutorial, or scroll down to go through the full list.

Nokia E6: How to import your contacts
Anyone who says business phones can't be good looking and innovative obviously hasn't come across the Nokia E6. Its rounded edge and no-fuss design speak of understated class, while it's also the first Nokia phone to have both a QWERTY hardware keyboard and a touchscreen on board.
To start the process of importing your contacts, the first step is to make sure that all your contacts are stored on the SIM card. How you go about this differs from phone to phone, but on a Nokia the process should involve a variation on pressing Menu, then Contacts, and then Options.
Once you've got all your contacts on your SIM card, insert it into your new Nokia E6, switch the phone on and press Menu. Next, select Contacts and you should see a blank screen unless you've added any contacts manually.
From here, tap Options, then SIM numbers. From the list of options that appear, select Copy all to phone, and then Yes to confirm. Your contacts will now all move over from your SIM card to your Nokia E6's memory, putting your whole communication network right there at your fingertips.

Setting the time and date
Thanks to the Nokia E6's touchscreen, setting the time and date is simplicity itself. Simply tap the screen on the current time display, and you'll be taken straight to the Clock settings page. This gives you quick access to a couple of key features – you can tap the time to toggle between a digital or analogue display, for instance, or tap the New alarm button for a shortcut to the alarm setting.
To delve deeper into the time and date settings, however, tap Options, then Settings. You can achieve the same result from your homescreen by pressing Menu, Settings, Phone and then Time and Date.
At the top of this settings page is the time itself. Simply tap this setting to set the current time in the field that pops up. Below that is the time zone, followed by the date. These are the main settings to make sure you have correct – they can impact in all sorts of unexpected ways if not, so it's worth doing first thing!
One other feature worth noting on the Clock setting screen is the World clock setting, which is the tab with the globe icon that sits behind the main clock screen. Tap this and you can set up another time zone profile, which is useful if you regularly travel between two different cities, say. It means you can simply switch between profiles rather than having to actively change your time zone each time.
Setting the alarm
To get to grips with the alarm, return to the Clock page and tap the nice big New alarm button in the middle of the screen. There are three fields to set here – the time you want the alarm to go off, the description, which is useful if you've saved a number of different alarms you know you'll typically use in different situations, and the repeat setting.
This last setting is worth a mention, as it allows you to set your alarm to go off every day, once a week, or only on workdays.
However, tap Options and Settings back on the main Clock page and you'll also find a few more alarm-related details you can tweak.
Scroll to the bottom of the Settings page and you'll see options to adjust how long the all-important snooze time is, from as little as a single minute to as long as a full hour. You can also specify exactly which days you want to be treated as “workdays” should you be using that repeat profile – ideal if you work unusual shifts, for example.

Nokia E6: How to change the wallpaper
Business phone or not, however, it's still nice to give your phone a personal touch, and one of the best ways of doing that is by changing your wallpaper from the default preset image to something of your own choosing. And with the Nokia E6 featuring a fourth homescreen compared to the three of all the other Symbian Anna handsets, it would almost be a crime not to.
It takes next to no time to get the job done, too. Start by making sure you're on the homescreen whose background you want to change, as the wallpaper you select will only be applied to that specific screen. Press Options, and then Change wallpaper from the menu that pops up.
You'll see two choices here: Default and Image. As the name suggests, the default wallpaper is the standard image associated with the theme you're using, which unless you've already changed it will be the standard Symbian Anna theme your phone shipped with.
The option we're interested in is the second one, Image, so select this, and you'll be taken straight to your phone's image gallery. Navigate to the image you want to set as your wallpaper, tap its image on the screen, and your Nokia E6 will do the rest, replacing your wallpaper with the image you've selected.
And that's that – if you're not happy, simply repeat the process and select another image, or choose Default to restore the standard background you started off with.

Nokia E6: How to turn off the vibrating screen
Many people enjoy the tactile feedback of the screen vibrate function that's turned on as standard on the Nokia E6 when you first switch it on.
It's a great reminder that the Nokia E6 is the first handset of its form factor to have a touchscreen interface on top of the physical QWERTY keyboard in the first place, and provides you with a physical sensation in your fingertips more akin to the traditional feeling of physical buttons.
But as you get used to the handset itself and its Symbian Anna interface, you might find yourself increasingly feeling you'd like to switch it off. And when you consider that even though it's as sensitive to your power needs as possible the screen vibration still does use up some battery power, it becomes an easier argument to make.
Fortunately, switching off the screen vibrate function only takes a few moments. You should have your phone's currently active profile displayed on one of the Nokia E6's homescreens – the default profile is General, though you may have yours set to Silent as an alternative, for example.
Tap on the box displaying which profile is active, however, and a menu will pop up – tap on Edit active profile to succeed.
Another way of getting there is to press the Menu button, then setting Settings and then Profile. Select the profile you want to amend, then select Personalise.
Turn your attention to the option third from the bottom, labelled Touch screen vibration. Select this and you'll see the option to change the level of vibration, or switch it off altogether. Select your preference, than tap OK to confirm.
Job done! Be aware, though, that this will only adjust the vibration setting on the currently active profile. If you regularly switch between two profiles, say, you'll need to repeat the process across both for it to take effect all the time.
