Instant messaging fans take note: a new beta version of the IMO app is now available to download, adding the convenience of split-screen support to help you multi-task within the app. Read on for the details.
IMO has been around for a while now but has only been available in beta form for Nokia users until now. Well, that part hasn't changed but that doesn't mean the app isn't evolving.
The latest update of the IMO app for Nokia users features split-screen support, which allows you to view your contacts and active chats one of top of the other, for instance, or have a chat thread on top and your on-screen keyboard below, or a chat and your contacts – it's up to you.
There's also a new option to have the phone vibrate on incoming messages, as well as a number of bug fixes.
This adds to the basic IMO formula, which is a free cross-platform service that supports AIM, Google Talk, ICQ, MSN, Facebook Chat, Hyves, Jabber, MySpace, Skype, Steam, VKontakte and Yahoo Messenger. Nokia smartphones running Symbian S60 5th Edition, Symbian^3 or Symbian Anna are supported.
With IMO still in beta form for Nokia users, it's not available from the Nokia Ovi Store just yet, but you can give it a whirl all the same by heading to the dedicated IMO for Nokia website and downloading it from there.
Once you have, we'd love to hear how you think it stacks up against other IM aggregator services you there, so drop us a line with your thoughts in the Comments below!
