Welcome to a new week, and as usual plenty has gone on since last week's edition of Nokia Nuggets touched down. Want to start off the week stocked up with all the latest developments from the wider world of Nokia? Then keep reading!
As we mentioned last week, all the talk right now surrounding Nokia is about Symbian Belle and the new handsets coming with it, and more significantly the arrival of the first Nokia Windows Phone between now and the end of the year.
And it's far from just the Nokia faithful doing the talking. Let's kick off our Nokia Nuggets roundup and see what the likes of Microsoft boss Steve Ballmer himself are saying about the upcoming Windows Phone Mango-powered Nokia.
Nokia Windows Phone: looking good
The Microsoft boss was speaking at the company's BUILD developer conference, but took time to say he was looking forward to seeing Nokia widen the Windows Phone appeal in terms of price point and form factor, while Nokia senior vice president Marco Argenti, also at BUILD, was blown away by the potential the Metro UI offered developers in their efforts to craft market-leading apps. Throw in our thoughts on what the Nokia Windows Phone's touchscreen might have to offer and we've given you plenty to mull over in the weeks leading up to the device's arrival.
One Direction Nokia C3 and Nokia C2-02
New boy band pop sensation One Direction have been breaking records with their first single What Makes You Beautiful, and we revealed last week that the quintet would also be lending their talents to a special-edition pair of Nokia mobile phones too – the QWERTY based Nokia C3 and the new Nokia C2-02. Sounds like music to our ears.
The Perfect Poison Pills Plot – made by Nokia E7
And Nokia has been treating more literary types will of late too. Last week saw the release of Terry Deary's The Perfect Poison Pills Plot, a keitai micro-novel written entirely on the QWERTY keyboard of the Nokia E7, and read out exclusively in a series of short videos by rap star Chipmunk.
Symbian Belle, Nokia N8 and Nokia E6
As mentioned in our introduction, Symbian Belle and the trio of handsets that will debut it right now are big news, but we're also excited about the prospect of seeing Symbian Belle arrive via update to all the Symbian smartphones currently running Symbian Anna. To help you get in the mood we've started taking a look at just what we have to look forward to, starting with the QWERTY-equipped Nokia E6 and the all-star Nokia N8.
What NFC brings to Symbian Belle
One of the chief reasons we're looking forward to Symbian Belle, of course, is its all-in NFC integration, so to whet your appetite we've given some airtime to a video clip showing the NFC Tap to Share and Tap to Pair features in action – including not only Nokia's latest Symbian Belle handsets but some gorgeous accessories too. On a more practical level, we've also weighed up the Nokia 700 as an upgrade option from the Nokia 5230, and showcased the first Nokia 701 unboxing pictures to hit the web.
And finally...
Part of what we're looking so forward to about the Nokia 600 and Nokia 701 is that they're officially Nokia's loudest and brightest smartphone ever. But what does that mean? Nokia Conversations has been taking a closer look at just that question, helping you learn the difference between your nits from your lux.
