Most of us carry our mobile phones with us at all times, but there are times when you won't want the interruption of the noise of an incoming call. Changing your profile is the answer, and here we show you how to go about it on the Nokia X7.

We've all been there: you're in the middle of a gripping movie at the cinema when someone's phone goes off, spoiling the moment for everyone. It's fair enough that you don't want to put yourself completely out of touch by switching your phone off altogether, but there are times when your typical settings just aren't appropriate.

The answer is to use themes so that you can quickly apply a range of settings to suit your circumstances with just a few screen taps, be it to go silent or to crank up the sound even higher if you're in a noisy outdoor environment, for instance.

And fortunately the Nokia X7 comes with a number of preset profiles to suit just such occasions, including General, Silent, Meeting, Outdoor, Pager and an Offline mode for cutting off your Nokia X7's SIM card connecting to your network.

Switching between them couldn't be easier. On your Nokia X7's main homescreen, simply tap the profile widget to the right of the clock – it should be set to the General profile by default.

You'll immediately be presented with a menu of profiles to choose from; select your desired profile and it'll automatically be selected. And your done – just two screen taps is all it takes to change your profile.

From the same menu you can also choose to edit the settings on your current profile. Select the Edit Current Profile option and you'll get to adjust everything from the ringtone and volume to whether the phone should make a sound on an incoming email, or vibrate when you touch the screen.

Once you're happy with your changes, simply tap Exit and you'll be restored to your Nokia X7's homescreen.
