With the Nokia 700 set for release any day now, we can’t wait to get our hands on the world’s smallest touchscreen smartphone and enjoy all that it has to offer. Packing a stunning new design, the latest Symbian software and a range of cutting-edge features, we’ve already fallen in love with this great new Nokia phone and we’re here to tell you all the reasons why you’ll soon be just as infatuated with the sleek and stylish Nokia 700 as we are.
Nokia 700 on Vodafone, O2, Virgin and Everything Everywhere, coming in early October
Built to be the worlds smallest and most eco-friendly touchscreen smartphone, the Nokia 700 is a spectacular feat of engineering. Cramming a staggering array of features into its gorgeous, tiny chassis, the 700 is the perfect phone for popping into your pocket and heading out for a busy day with everything you need to hand. Here’s what we currently love about the Nokia 700 most of all.
Sleek and stylish design:
Built using a stylish combination of brushed metal on the rear and polished glass on the front, the Nokia 700 looks and feels great. Feeling every bit the high-end handset, the sleek chassis measures just 9.7mm thin and weighs a mere 96g, making it very comfortable to slip into your pocket and more than tough enough to hold its own against your keys and coins. And despite being so thin and light, the Nokia 700 still manages to feel pleasingly solid in the hand, proving incredibly strong and exuding quality.
Symbian Belle:
As one of the first smartphones to feature the new Symbian Belle operating system, the Nokia 700 is as great to use, as it is to look at. The colourful icon-based interface is a pleasure to operate and the new notifications toolbar works like a charm, keeping you up to date on all you need to know without intruding on what you’re currently doing.
With five home screens on offer you can easily set the Nokia 700 up exactly how you like, and the new live multitasking feature means you can have all your favourite apps running in the background without having to stop and start each time you open a new one. Add the easy-to-create widgets and Symbian Belle on the Nokia 700 could be the best smartphone OS we’ve seen.
Stunning AMOLED screen:
Staggeringly bright and colourful, with striking contrast and deep blacks, the Nokia 700’s 3.2-inch AMOLED screen blew us away when we first switched it on. The polished glass display lets colours pop from the screen and the sharp 640 x 360 pixel resolution renders images with impressive clarity, making this one of the best smartphone screen’s around for viewing photos and videos. And with Nokia’s ClearBlack screen technology in place, reflections are greatly reduced and colours stay vivid, even when you’re out and about in the brightest sunshine.
Near Field Communication (NFC):
Cramming cutting-edge NFC technology into its tiny chassis, the Nokia 700 is incredibly easy to synchronise with external multimedia devices and other smartphones. Letting you tap the phone against a device to instantly set up a Bluetooth connection, wireless synchronisation has never been so easy. We tested the Nokia 700’s NFC with the Nokia Play 360 speakers and the whole process took less than three seconds before we were enjoying music wirelessly between the two devices. With the many exciting possibilities for NFC technology increasing by the day, seeing it in action on such a tiny device as the Nokia 700 adds even more value to this great little smartphone.
Free sat-nav for life:
And as if the cutting-edge technology and gorgeous design weren’t enough, Nokia has even packed full satellite-navigation into the 700 for free. British handsets will come with full UK maps pre-installed to get you on the road straight out-of-the-box. And when you decide to venture further afield, all you have to do is get online and you can download free world maps of any country you want. Letting you stay on the right track wherever you go, while also having full control of how many maps are taking up storage on your handset, the Nokia 700 truly is the only smartphone you need in your pocket.
Cramming so much into such a small chassis, the Nokia 700 is one of the most exciting (and gorgeous) smartphones we’ve seen all year. With the release date almost upon us and our anticipation already sky-high, we can’t wait to get our hands on this fantastic Symbian Belle smartphone and we’ll be bringing you a full review as soon as we can.
