Following the release of the Windows Phone 7.5 Mango update and with the first Nokia Windows Phones due next week, the global press has been speaking up about Microsoft’s new smartphone OS. The reaction has been overwhelmingly positive and it seems everyone’s been enjoying using Windows Phone 7.5 as much as we have.
Windows Phone 7.5 Mango: Top 10 must have features
As we count the days until we see the first Nokia Windows Phones at Nokia World 2011 next week, the world’s eyes are on Windows Phone 7.5 Mango, with everyone keen to see just what it offers and how it stacks up against its rivals. The UK press has been among the first to speak up and the verdict is in; they love Windows Phone 7.5 just as much as we do.
The Guardian’s Juliette Garside, for example, is already a fan of Windows Phone 7.5, stating: “As a piece of visual design, the operating system…makes the iPhone's bubble-inspired home screen graphics look tired and out of date”.
Garside was also quick to praise Windows Phone 7.5’s great social networking features, saying: “The level to which a select group of the best social media platforms…have been woven into the functions on Mango goes…arguably well beyond what Apple's iPhone and Google's Android can offer.”
BBC News’ Tim Weber agreed, saying: “The software delivers a deep integration with social networks like no other phone.”
And it’s not just the major news sites that have been singing the praises of Windows Phone 7.5; the consumer technology press has also been weighing in.
Engadget's Sharif Sakr was particularly impressed by Mango’s great usability, saying: “We have never felt so calm and relaxed when using a smartphone. Whether we're searching for media, loading up Bing to recognize a music track, or bashing out an email, the experience is serene.”
And many tech journalists are just as keen to see Windows Phone 7.5 in action on the new range of Nokia Windows Phones as we are and see Mango as a truly viable threat to its big-name rivals in the smartphone market.
Know Your Mobile’s Tony Crammond, stated: “…users can look forward to seeing Nokia's excellent hardware running Windows Phone 7 Mango” and Gizmodo’s Jesus Diaz said “To me, Windows Phone 7.5 feels like the only real challenger to Apple’s iOS 5….”
With its gorgeous, intuitive interface; cutting-edge social networking features; and unmatched multimedia usability, Windows Phone 7.5 is a stunning OS. And with only a few days left to go until we see it in action on the latest Nokia hardware, anticipation is higher than ever. We can’t wait to see the new Nokia Windows Phones, but what are your thoughts? Why not let us know in the Comments below?
