The Lloyds TSB Mobile Banking app is the first of its type launched by the company and has been designed for four smartphone platforms, including Symbian, so we thought we're best check it out on our Nokia N8 running Symbian Anna. Read on to check out our Lloyds TSB Mobile Banking app on Nokia N8 review.

If you have a Lloyds TSB bank account, which we just happen to do, then you may well have been waiting to get ahold of an app like this on your Nokia, or similar Symbian Anna smartphone for some time. It allows you to pretty much cover all the basics of handling your online account without the fuss of having to find a PC or laptop to login.

The interface for the Lloyds TSB Mobile Banking app is fairly basic and isn't greatly removed from what you'll find on the basic online client. It comprises of Mobile Banking, ATM/Branch finder, as well as a chance to log your favourites.

The ATM/Branch finder works quite well and allows you to search by postcode, town, or street address, so you can get access to cash when you're out and about. You can choose between finding a branch, or if you simply need a cash point, then it taps into the GPS in your Nokia N8 and sends you to the nearest bank.

The main function of the Lloyds TSB Mobile Banking app is to give you access to your Mobile Banking account. Instead of opening within the app itself, you'll find that on Symbian Anna devices, it opens the web-browser and runs it from there. Visually, it's the same as the login browser found on the desktop version, so you still need to put in your user ID and password and pass through the security options.

Once logged in, Lloyds TSB Mobile Banking app allows you to use your Nokia N8 for all your banking needs, from checking your account to making payments and sending money. The Lloyds TSB Mobile Banking app only run sin Portrait mode for the main app itself, but when you move over to the Mobile Banking part you'll find that Landscape mode is enabled. With the 3.5-inch screen of the Nokia N8 we had no trouble viewing all the data on the screen.

We have to admit, the navigation buttons at the bottom of the app are a little close to the edge of the Nokia N8 screen and aren't the most responsive, so moving about the app can be a little slow and awkward at times. Still, it's highly unlikely you'll want to do more than one thing at a time with the app, so this may nit prove an issue in long term use.

As a first version of the Lloyds TSB Mobile Banking app, we're more than happy with what's on offer. In time it may well get faster and slicker but for now, if you have a Lloyds TSB bank account this is an easy way to check your account and carry on transactions on your Nokia N8, or similar Symbian Anna smartphone.
