Nokia Lumia 800 vs. Samsung Galaxy Nexus SIM-free dealsWith the Nokia Lumia 800 release date set for the 16th November and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus confirmed for release the following day, we thought we’d take a look at just how much these two new smartphones will cost, SIM-free, on the day of release, to see which will make the better deal.

Nokia Lumia 800: Top 10 things we already love!

Following its announcement at Nokia World 2011, the Nokia Lumia 800 has been available for pre-order from Carphone Warehouse, Phones 4U, Orange, Three and Vodafone for over a week, in the run up to its full UK release on the 16th November.

As well as offering the Lumia 800 on monthly contract, though, UK service provider Three has also confirmed that it will be stocking the Lumia 800 SIM-free and will be selling it for just £399, making this gorgeous 3.7-inch Nokia Windows Phone a fantastic bargain for the holiday season.

As Samsung has also announced its new Google Android-powered Galaxy Nexus will be released on the 17th November, just a day after the Lumia 800, we’ve been checking out the latest pay-as-you-go deals, to see how pricing for the two phones compares.

With retailers such as Amazon UK currently offering the Samsung Galaxy Nexus SIM-free on pre-order for £550, the Android handset will cost a whopping £151 more than the Nokia Lumia 800. When you consider that other high-priced handsets such as the Apple iPhone 4S retail for £499, it’s pretty clear what a great bargain the cutting-edge Nokia Lumia 800 is.

The Nokia Lumia 800 is available to pre-order SIM-free and on monthly contract now, via the Nokia UK Lumia 800 pre-order page.

Would like to know where you confirmed the Galaxy Nexus release date.

Love Nokia but the Lumia is not much better than the 2 year old (and now less that £250) Nexus One.

It’s not really a “bargain” you’re getting what you pay for hardware wise from anyone other than Apple who charge notoriously high mark ups.

Nokia Lumia 800 is comparable to Nexus One? Blurghh? Nearly spilt my coffee reading that one, sorry Anon, does not compute :)

Never use cost to evaluate a deal. Value for money is the indicator.

1kg of chocolate for 1 dollar, 1 gram of chocolate for 50 cents. Using your language, the 1 gram is a great deal

ahh hahahahahaha, you’ve seen the nexus right? your comparing the wrong phones- the nexus curently sits in its own category

  • Steve

seems like its only available on the 3 network as PAYG.
how much for an unlocked phone, or vodaphone PAYG?

  • Theokr

I believe Three will unlock it for £15

Actually, that is the most accurate description, spec for spec. If you count the software, then the Nexus One is MORE desirable.
By the way, you can get a new, unlocked Nexus S for £250 on ebay nowadays. Now surely everyone will agree that that is better than the the Lumia!!
