Now that we’re just a few days away from the Nokia Lumia 800 official UK release, we’ve been testing out some of the best apps and games that you will soon be able to enjoy on the new Nokia Windows Phone. Today we’ve been playing around with the excellent Thumba Photo Editor.

With its great 8-Megapixel camera and the easy-to-use Windows Phone 7.5 interface, the Nokia Lumia 800 is a fantastic camera-phone. And thanks to its handy Auto Fix tool, you can even correct exposure levels and white balance within the phone, to optimise the look of any your photos with just a few easy clicks.
But when you want even more power to tweak and edit photos on your Nokia Lumia 800, few apps are as good, or as affordable, as Thumba Photo Editor. Offering an easy to use interface and a huge range of quick one-click tools, you can easily get the best out of your photos like never before.
Once installed on the Nokia Lumia 800, you can open Thumba Photo Editor from your apps list – accessed by swiping to the right on the Windows Phone Start screen – and instantly open an existing photo from your library, or capture a new image using the Lumia 800’s Carl Zeiss-lens equipped camera.
With your chosen image loaded, you can then tap the Transform button and choose from a vast range of more than 70 tweaking and editing tools – sub-divided under headings labelled Image, Adjustments, Filters and Effects - which let you easily manipulate your photos with just a few easy clicks.
With 12 tools available under the Image heading, you can remove red-eye, crop and resize your photos, add a range of eye-catching frames and even write your own caption below the image, in a choice of smart fonts - letting you fully customise the look and feel of your photo, to suit your taste.
Swiping across to the Adjustments heading offers you a further 17 tools, that let you adjust hue and saturation, tweak brightness and contrast, sharpen your image and even automatically remove unwanted noise from your photo, for optimising the picture for the best quality possible.
Next, the Filter heading lets you choose from another 23 options, which let you add a range of predefined filters to your image. As well as the standard sepia and black & white options, you can apply colour filters, add a retro 1970’s look and even simulate infrared film, among others, for some stunning results.
And finally you can move across to the Effects heading, to access another 21 tools. These let you add a range of effects, such as changing your image to look like a watercolour painting, choosing to make it look like a battered old photo from the 1800’s, or even simulating the appearance of rain drops on the camera lens, to add some truly unique looks to your Lumia 800’s photos.
No matter which tools you choose to use, they can all be selected and applied with a couple of easy clicks, with your image then immediately updating onscreen for you to assess the results. All processing runs quickly and smoothly, thanks to the Nokia Lumia 800’s fast 1.4GHz processor and graphics hardware accelerator.
Even more usefully, you also have a handy Before/After button, which you can tap and hold at any time, to switch between your newly tweaked image and the original photo on the fly; making it easy to decide whether you like the finished results, before tapping the Save button and confirming the changes.
Once your image tweaking is complete, you can tap the Share button and instantly upload your new photo to Facebook, Flickr or Twitter. And with full integration with Windows Phone 7.5’s Pictures Hub, all your new images are automatically saved into your Lumia 800’s photo library, for easy browsing.
Packed with features, incredibly easy to use and able to deliver great looking results, Thumba Photo Editor is a fantastic app for both Nokia newcomers and keen photographers alike.
