Nokia Lumia 800 wins What Mobile Awards 2011Just a day after its official release, the Nokia Lumia 800 has already won its first major award, being voted Mobile Phone of The Year at the What Mobile Awards 2011 in London.

No sooner has the Nokia Lumia 800 hit UK stores and it has already scooped up the coveted What Mobile Editor's Choice Award, with thousands of readers of What Mobile magazine voting it as the best mobile phone of 2011.

Announced today at the What Mobile Awards 2011 in London, the award adds to the long list of industry acclaim that the Nokia Windows Phone has received since it was unveiled at Nokia World 2011 in London just a few weeks ago.

When announcing the award, What Mobile editor Richard Melville said, "It's no secret that Nokia make great phones but with a new Windows Phone Mango operating system, great design and a competitive price, the Lumia 800 feels like real innovation for smartphones and, importantly, one that's cool enough to attract everyone from gadget geeks to casual, fashion conscious phone users."

Adding another great highlight to its fantastic first week, we can’t wait to see what further acclaim the Nokia Lumia 800 will garner over the coming months. One thing’s for sure though, it looks like Nokia has a huge hit on its hands!

Certainly the Lumia 800 deserves any award that is given to it. It certainly is the phone of the year.

I always believed that if there was any company that could make a totally new, usable, and possibly exciting windows phone; it would be Nokia. But since I havent seen one yet,,,

I still want to see a 950 hit the market. Thats what i’m holding out for.

I have just brought one, it’s seriously the best phone out on the market! It looks better & works better then all of its competitors!

its just a crap os in a N9 case. If we in the uk and other major countrys allowed to buy the N9 then it would be the gadget of the year since microsoft got their hands on nokia it will still stay third rate smartphone maker. why wouldnt their worst ceo let the 2 phones compete? because he knows N9 would wipe the floor with the 800. what a stupid business man who ignores his customers as withouit them he has no business. with samsung htc offering windows phones and android they value their customers more with a choise. You only have to read the revies and the forums to see he has made a big mistake. Nokia used to be the must have hanset look at them now clinging to a ugly looking OS and with windows on pc that is a virus dream so will be mango.
