With its great Live Tile-based interface, the Windows Phone 7.5 OS of the Nokia Lumia 800 is arguably the most advanced smartphone operating system you can currently find. Setting up the Windows Phone Start screen with your favourite apps and games is quick and easy to achieve, so we’re here to show you how.
The first step in customising the Windows Phone Start screen on the Nokia Lumia 800 is to add tiles for all the apps that you’ll want to use most often. While all of the most popular apps, such as the People Hub, Nokia Music, Pictures and Email are already in place on your new Nokia handset, there are sure to be more that you’ll want to add.
To add a new tile to the Windows Phone Start screen, just swipe to the right, or tap the arrow at the top right the screen, to open the Windows Phone apps list. Here you’ll see all of your currently installed apps and all you need to do to add an app to the Start screen is tap and hold on it, then tap Pin to Start on the menu that opens.
By default the new tile will be added to the bottom of your Windows Phone Start screen, so once you’ve added all the apps you want, the next step is to re-arrange the tiles for easy access to your favourite tools. This is a simple process on the Nokia Lumia 800 and you can have the Start screen set up how you want it in a couple of minutes.
To start moving tiles around, tap and hold on any tile and all the other tiles will drop into the background. Now you can tap on any tile that you want to move and then drag it with your finger and drop it wherever you like. Repeat this with all of your tiles, until your Start screen is exactly how you want it and then tap away from the tile to set them in place.
If there are any tiles that you want to delete from the Start screen, then when you tap and hold on a tile you’ll also see a little ‘Unpin’ icon appear at the top right of the selected tile, so just tap this icon to remove the tile from your Start screen. The app itself won’t be deleted from your Nokia Lumia 800, but the tile will disappear from your Start screen.
With your Windows Phone Start screen set up just how you like it, you can enjoy quick and easy access to all of your favourite and most-used apps on the Nokia Lumia 800. Customising the tiles takes just a few moments and the time you’ll save next time you use your phone will be well worth the effort.
