Kik Messenger free app on Nokia Lumia 800 Windows PhoneIf you want to enjoy free texts on your Nokia Windows Phone or Symbian device, then Kik Messenger is the app for you. With its great interface and easy to use features, it makes the perfect compliment to traditional SMS texting on your Nokia Lumia 800 or all other Nokia smartphones.

Kik Messenger available free for Symbian and Windows Phone

Kik Messenger works by sending your message via your smartphone’s data allowance, saving you the cost of sending a traditional SMS or MMS test message. And since the app itself is also completely free and a pleasure to use, there’s no reason not to give it a try on your Nokia smartphone.

We tested Kik Messenger on the Nokia Lumia 800 and downloading the app via the Windows Phone Marketplace is quick and easy, thanks to its tiny 1MB download. Once installed on your Nokia Windows Phone, you just have to log into your existing Kik account or create a new one, to start messaging your friends.

Creating a new Kik account is am easy process, made all the more simple by the Nokia Lumia 800’s great onscreen keyboard. You just type in your name, email and preferred username and password, and Kik Messenger quickly checks whether the details are valid, before setting up your new Kik account.

As soon as your account is set up on your Nokia Windows Phone, you are prompted to import all of your existing Kik contacts into the app. If you don’t have any contacts yet, though, you can easily add new contacts to the app on your Nokia Lumia 800 later via the easy to use Kik Messenger interface.

To add a new contact to Kik Messenger, you just swipe left or right from the main interface and then tap the Add Contact button. You can then either enter their username directly, if you already know it, or you can search all existing Kik contacts by username to find people you know and add friends to your list.

Once you have a contact or two in your Kik Contacts list, you can then start messaging them for free. From the main Kik Messenger screen you just tap the Compose button and then tap to choose whom you want to contact from your Contacts list. You can then start typing away to send them a free message.

When you’re composing a message, Kik Messenger acts far more like an IM Client than a standard SMS text creator. You can easily choose from a range of 18 full colour emoticons, to add character to your message and attaching a photo to your message is just as simple, thanks to the easy to use interface.

Once your message is ready to be sent, you just tap the Send button and away it goes. And as soon as your contact has read the message, you will see it marked as read on your screen and if they start typing a new message back to you, you will also see a notification that they have started typing.

And if you want greater control over who can or cannot contact you, Kik Messenger makes that easy too. With a comprehensive Settings tap, you can easily block Kik users from contacting you, while also customising your Kik interface and operations to tweak the app to exactly how you want to use it.

Offering a fantastic free way to stay in touch with friends and family around the world, Kik Messenger for Windows Phone is a fantastic app for the Nokia Lumia 800. If you want to save money and enjoy a more advanced texting experience on your Nokia Windows Phone, this is an essential app for you.

Kik Messenger is available now for the Nokia Lumia 800 on the Windows Phone Marketplace for free and is also available free from the Nokia Store for all Nokia Symbian handsets.
