We love our Nokia Windows Phones and thanks to the gorgeous Windows Phone 7.5 OS it’s incredibly easy to add a touch of individual style to your handset and make the phone your own. This morning we’ve been taking a look at just how to customise the lock screen on the Nokia Lumia 800.
Nokia Lumia 800: How to get started (video guide)
Over the past week we’ve had a few people get in touch with us to ask if it’s possible to tweak the great Windows Phone lock screen, so they can tailor it to their own taste. Well you’re all in luck, as customising the lock screen on all Nokia Lumia handsets, including the new Nokia Lumia 800, is easy.
Even before any customisation the Windows Phone lock screen looks great and works just as well. As well as letting you view a beautiful image whenever your phone is locked, you can also see details of appointments, missed calls, texts, emails and voicemails, and even see whether you have any alarms set.
To tweak the Windows Phone lock screen and make it your own, you can easily change the background wallpaper to any image of your choice. To do this, just swipe left on the Windows Phone Start Screen to access your phone’s apps list and then scroll down and tap on the option labelled Settings.
From there, scroll down the new list and tap on Lock+Wallpaper. You can now tap the Change Wallpaper button and then select an image from your various photo albums. And if your chosen photo doesn’t fit the screen exactly how you want it to, just pinch to zoom and you can pan the image to have the right fit.
And while you’re there you’ll also see a switch marked Show Artist When Playing Music, so you can swipe this to the On position, if you want to view artist/album artwork on your Nokia Lumia’s lock screen when you’re playing MP3’s, letting you enjoy even greater multimedia usability on your phone.
And to the NokNok reader’s that have asked us whether you can change the font of the Windows Phone lock screen text, we're sorry to say you can’t at this stage. To be honest though, we’re not sure why you’d want to, as the default font looks great and makes it easy to see all your information at a glance.
As with everything on the Nokia Lumia 800, customising the Windows Phone lock screen is quick and easy, letting you make the phone your own with a gorgeous image and your favourite songs. We’ve already set up our Nokia Windows Phones how we like them, so why not do the same on yours?
