If you’re a good, safety conscious driver (and we hope you are!), you can now enjoy even safer in-car phone usage with the free Nokia Car Mode app for Nokia Belle. Giving you easy access to your phone’s core functions while using phones such as the Nokia 700 (and soon the Nokia N8 and Nokia E7) when you’re at the wheel, it’s well worth a try if you’re on the road a lot.
The compact Nokia Car Mode app is available completely free for Nokia Belle – or Symbian Belle as it used to be known – and can be downloaded in a choice of two flavours, both of which are designed to make your phone use far easier and safer when you’re out and about in your car.
The basic version of Nokia Car Mode is available as a free download and streamlines the Nokia Belle UI by making the most relevant tools you may need to use when driving, such as those for making phone calls, using navigation and listening to music, available in a panel of large and accessible icons.
If you have an infotainment system in your car, however, then you can also opt for the £18 Nokia Car Mode with MirrorLink app. This lets you connect your Nokia Belle handset via USB directly to a MirrorLink compatible in-car system and control your phone via the built-in touchscreen display, for even easier control of your handset.
While we’re far from the world’s worst drivers (do all bad drivers say that?) we can be guilty at times of using our phones when maybe we shouldn’t, but with Nokia Car Mode installed on our Nokia 700 smartphone, we’ve been chatting away with friends much easier and enjoying a far more swerve ‘n’ swear-free drive, so we’re already firm fans of this handy little app.
Both the free Nokia Car Mode and the £18 Nokia Car Mode with MirrorLink apps can be downloaded now from the Nokia Store, so why not give them a try and let us know what you think in the Comments below? Just not while you’re driving eh?
