Nokia N8 Symbian smartphonesWith the Nokia N8 about to get a full update to Symbian Belle – or Nokia Belle as it’s now called – you’ll soon be able to enjoy the best version of Symbian on the world’s best camera-phone. But if you’re already a fan of Symbian Anna, then why should you upgrade? We’ve got all the reasons you need.

Why the Nokia N8 is still the ultimate Symbian smartphone

When the Nokia N8 was released back in late 2010 it immediately blew us away with its great usability, staggeringly sharp 12-Megapixel camera and unbeatable features. More than a year later it’s still by far the world’s best camera-phone and one of our favourite Nokia smartphones of all time.

But even if you love your Nokia N8 as much as we do, this great phone is about to get even better. A free update to the fantastic Nokia Belle OS is on the way soon, bringing a host of new features that will make your Nokia N8 feel fresher than ever. Here are our top ten reasons to upgrade.

Bright new design
Fine-tuning the already excellent design of Symbian Anna, Nokia Belle makes the UI brighter, cleaner and easier to use with a gorgeous and fresh new look.

Double the home screens
Doubling the amount of home screens from three to six, Nokia Belle gives you loads more freedom to set up your Nokia N8 phone exactly how you want it.

Easy access widgets
You can now create handy one-tap widgets in seconds and add them to your Nokia Belle home screens, for even easier access to your favourite apps.

Glance-able design
By fine-tuning and uncluttering the user interface, Nokia Belle makes it faster to find things you want, just by glancing at the screen of your Nokia N8.

Easier navigation
With a range of handy new navigation tools located at the bottom of the Nokia Belle interface, you can navigate your Nokia N8 faster than ever before.

Bags of new apps
With a range of new apps built into Nokia Belle as standard, including great business tools, your Nokia N8 can be more powerful than ever.

Live multitasking
No longer do you have to wonder what your apps are doing, as Nokia Belle’s great live multitasking lets you see instantly what’s going on at any time.

All your info to hand
With its new Status Bar and Notifications Tab, Nokia Belle puts information on missed calls, texts and reminders within easy reach on the Nokia N8.

Better social networking
Thanks to its handy social network widget on the Nokia Belle home screens, you can view friend updates in seconds without ever needing to open an app.

Improved lock screen
Even when your Nokia N8 is locked, you can still enjoy easy access to info, as the new lock screen is packed with data which can be viewed at a glance.

If you’ve never tried Nokia Belle, then you’re in for a treat when it arrives next month on the Nokia N8, Nokia E7 and Nokia C7, among others. Taking all that made Symbian Anna such a great smartphone OS and fine-tuning it to be even better, there’s never been a better version of Symbian for the Nokia N8.

All that and only 256Mb of RAM with which to do it! Summat’s gonna have to give.

  • sacha

I hope this operating system makes up for the brick of a system my N8 currently has. It’s the most faulty, useless phone I;ve ever owned. My face is still putting people on hold, 1 year after I was told to update the OS and I wouldnt have this problem. I am bnever buying a nokia again after this which is a shame as I’ve been using them for nearly 10 years.

  • Addik

I like mine. shame it’s not waterproof, as I work outdoors in england!! It is easy to use and friendly to share thinkgs with friends I think the best bit on mine is unlimited internet function, but I’d prefer it if it didn’t use WAP so much. It’s a good advancement but I think the developers could put more into it before release as eventhough it a mammoth of a capacity, once you’ve spent 3 months working out how to use it, there could be more on there. The camera is amazing! Thank U Xx.

i love this phone. however, the single worst feature in it is not locking the screen when calling, meaning putting people on hold or ending the call by accident. this is simply stupid.
since i’m not the only one with this problem, i hope belle solves this, or any update after belle.

  • Chaupele

I have installed leaked belle in my N8 and its great. Everything is faster compared to Anna and battery last longer. Also, there is a way to switch off/on wireless, bluetooth or put phone in silent mode easily and quickly. Looovely

  • Munirhero

Please release Belle as soon as possible. We can’t wait more..

  • Emmanuelharuna

MY N8 IS A CHINA PHONE AND I WANT TO CHANGE IT

  • عبيد سليم

oh thanks… completely psyched about the update…

been waiting since last August :P

  • backflip bedlem

Anyone else running low on memory in C:? Any help on how to free up space, done the usual removing any random images, sounds etc and deleted mail cache etc, but still fills up.

  • Aadilh

Low C drive space, Low RAM, Do you think belle standard a chance to deal with that? I doubt it. Its another one of those big nokia errors which they refuse to correct because they can’t

  • Anonmonty

Symbian Belle makes better use of the C: drive and the RAM. I currently have belle on my N8 and looking at it at the moment (all my regular apps already installed) I have 188mb free on C: (29%) and 90MB free RAM(65%) and that’s with whatsapp and wellness diary running in the background. In terms of stability, compared to official Anna (which most of u have) it is a lot lot lot faster and smoother!

Nokia Belle is def worth the upgrade. I am using the leaked version but I doubt I’ll upgrade to the official version because I think by the time the official is released, it will be filled with all sorts of bloatware that will eat up C: drive space and RAM!
Why Nokia constantly cripples their phones, I guess its only those incompetent managers and other decision makers that can answer that.

  • N8 best phone

Imagine if Belle was on the N8 in 2010 when the phone first came out, this phone would have completely stolen the show from all android and iphone devices.

  • Lawsan123

Hi i’m Nick, Parsonally I love Nokia and i used n8 i never see a smart like it, with OS Belle i think it will win a high score than the n9. why i must wait for the new OS

I have a N8 with Symbian Anna installed. Ever since I installed Symbian Anna I am unable to use the adobe flash lite. Will Nokia Belle solve this problem? Those of us who are already using Nokia Belle, is there a problem when you access any web page that uses adobe flash……usually a broken icon???

  • Shame

Really, another update. I’m from Vancouver, Canada and i just received the symbian Anna update about a month ago, many months behind most Nokia users from other regions. Just hearing about another update…
