If ever there was proof that the Symbian OS is still going strong, it’s the recent news that the Nokia Store is attracting more than 11 million downloads per day on Symbian devices such as the Nokia N8, Nokia C3 and Nokia 5800. We’ve been taking a look at just how these figures break down.
Symbian Belle now Nokia Belle. Updates coming in February
With hundreds of different Symbian-based devices sold in countries around the world, it’s no surprise to see Nokia racking up such impressive numbers at its Nokia Store. Even still, it’s incredibly hard to ignore the kind of staggeringly high statistics which start with two figures and end with six zeroes.
According to recent figures, not only is the Nokia Store pulling in more than 11 million downloads a day – an impressive feat on its own - but 177 publishers have managed to reach 1 million downloads each, making for some very happy companies and plenty of satisfied Nokia Symbian-using customers.
Unsurprisingly, based on previous statistics we've seen, the largest market for the Nokia Store at present is India, where the most popular downloads are games. This is then followed by China, where apps reign supreme and then Russia, Brazil and Turkey, who also download apps most of all, over Symbian games.
With Symbian Belle now renamed Nokia Belle and some stunning Symbian smartphones released around the world last year, such as the Nokia 700, Nokia Asha 200 and Nokia Asha 300, downloads at the Nokia Store are sure to increase even further, so we look forward to seeing how the figures grow in the months to come.
