As if Nokia’s free Nokia Drive satellite-navigation app weren’t enough to keep you on the right track, you can now also enjoy detailed traffic updates on handsets such as the Nokia Lumia 800, Nokia N8 and Nokia 700 thanks to the RAC Traffic app, available free from the Nokia Store and Windows Phone Marketplace.
Nokia Lumia 800: Driving with free Nokia Drive free satellite navigation
Using the built-in GPS of your Nokia Symbian or Windows Phone handset, RAC Traffic pinpoints your location to bring you up to the minute traffic updates for your area. It then shows you the exact start and end points of any congestion you might be approaching, so that you can easily avoid it.
But it’s not just traffic that the app helps you avoid, as RAC Traffic also lets you see detailed information on any road works that are going on, so that you can quickly anticipate any traffic problems that may be coming up and find a quicker route around it to be sure to get your destination without delay.
And if you find yourself broken down anywhere (which, based on our last MOT, is sure to happen to us quite soon) you can even use the app to join and call the RAC, so that they can come out and rescue you. This feature alone was enough to make us quickly install the app on our Nokia Lumia 800.
And if for any reason you want a full route planner on your smartphone – although with Nokia Drive installed on your handset, we can’t think why you would – then you can also upgrade to RAC Traffic+ for just £0.69p and enjoy all the great free features, plus full RAC route planning on your phone for a pleasingly low price.
Even though we’re more than happy using Nokia Drive to plan our routes, the extra traffic updates of RAC Traffic are much appreciated and this handy free app has become a regular part of our travel arsenal and is well worth installing on your phone for next time you hit the road.
You can download RAC Traffic free on your Nokia Symbian or Windows Phone handset from the Nokia Store and Windows Phone Marketplace, so why not give it a try and let us know what you think in the Comments below?
