Nokia has released the second update for the Nokia Lumia 800. Following on from last month's tweaks and improvements, this second firmware release should iron out some remaining niggles and ensure a top experience for all. Read on for more information.

Nokia Lumia 800 version 1600.2479.7740.11451 firmware update

This will be the second of a two-part Nokia Lumia 800 update that Nokia promise at the end of November. The first one, which was snappily named 1600.2479.7740.11451, applied a few tweaks and improvements such as improving battery charging, voicemail notifications and audio quality.

The second update (1600.2483.8106.11500) will enhance battery performance yet further and improve Wi-Fi connectivity. Nokia UK has informed us that it should start rolling out to handsets from this evening, but not all Nokia Lumia 800s will receive it  straight away. As ever with such software update, it'll be a staggered launch, so some users (around half) will receive it next week.

Your Nokia Lumia 800 should inform you when the new update is ready to download, at which point you'll need to plug your phone into your computer and boot up Zune (on PC) or Windows Phone 7 Connector (Mac) and select to update. You can also check to see if the update is ready by running these programs and using the facility to check for updates.

Have you managed to update your Nokia Lumia 800 with this latest download? If so, have you noticed any improvements to speak of? Let us know in the Comments section below.

Having done the second update I am not so sure now. On diagnostic tool before update my battery was showing 1500 mHa and now is showing 1250. The battery life estimate after a full charge has gone from over 26 hours down to only a day.
I might be reverting to version 1.
