Nokia Lumia 710 - we've got one!

As we pointed out recently, Nokia's momentum going into 2012 with its new Lumia brand has been impressive. While we in the UK were among the first to enjoy the unique Nokia Lumia 800, the phone has since made impression all around Europe and the far east.

Elsewhere, the Nokia Lumia 710 (an example of which we recently got our hands on) has been on offer in certain key areas, and has contributed alongside the Lumia 800 to one million Lumia devices sold to date.

In a related note to investors, Nokia CEO Stephen Elop said that he was "pleased with the performance of our mobile phones business", especially given the transition to a new strategy and mobile platform in 2011. As well as the bold new Nokia Lumia venture, Elop drew attention to the company's "particular strength in India, Middle East and Africa and South East Asia" with its Symbian platform and innovative dual-SIM offerings. The most recent move in this area was the launch of the Asha series at Nokia World 2011.

With regard to the Nokia Lumia 800 and Nokia Lumia 710, Elop claimed that his team was "changing the clock speed of Nokia" in releasing these first Nokia Windows Phone devices ahead of schedule. Elop also revealed that Nokia would be bringing its Lumia handsets to China and Latin America in the first half of 2012 which - along with the launch of the Lumia 900 - should make for a bumper year.
