Nokia Lumia 710 vs. Nokia Lumia 800: Hands-on side-by-side photo comparison

The Nokia Lumia 800 has established itself as one of the best-looking smartphones on the market. Now the second Nokia Windows Phone device, the Nokia Lumia 710, is available with a completely different style. How do the two compare? We’ve put them together to see how they match up.

The Nokia Lumia 710 has a hard act to follow. No other smartphone (other than the limited-release Nokia N9) looks quite like the Nokia Lumia 800, with its polycarbonate shell and slick, tapered screen. Nokia’s been very wise, then, in trying something completely different with the Nokia Lumia 710.

Where the Nokia Lumia 800 is a bold step forward for Nokia, the Lumia 710 is more of an evolution of traditional handsets like the Nokia C7. It’s got a traditional flat front with hardware keys, and a removable (yet sturdy) battery cover around back. Meanwhile the hardware buttons along the side of the device aren’t the flashy, flat buttons of the Lumia 800. Rather they’re discrete and neatly angled, sitting along the phone’s contoured edge.

That doesn’t mean the Nokia Lumia 710 is plain or dull to look at by any means. There’s an understated elegance to the phone, while the included alternative battery cover adds a touch of colour and individuality.
