Nokia Lumia 800 Ino-Scent spotted in the wild
Nokia marketing seems to have gone into overdrive of late, first came the stunning Nokia Lumia 800 White Edition and now it looks like we may be about to get the Nokia Lumia 800 Ino-Scent, which comes with its own fragrance dispenser. Read on to find out more about the leaked images for the Nokia Lumia 800 Ino-Scent.
We know the boffins in the Nokia R&D labs are working on some pretty amazing technologies right now, with examples such as the Nokia Kinetic bendable screen and the recent patent for the vibrating haptic tattoo, springing readily to mind.
However, when we discovered leaked images of the Nokia Lumia 800 Ino-Scent over on super-obscure Vietnamese tech blog Tech4All we had to get excited. Sure, the smartphone packs in the same 3.7-inch AMOLED display and pin-sharp 8-Megapixel camera we’ve come to love but what makes this Windows Phone really stand out is the built-in fragrance dispenser.
At first glance, the rear of the Nokia Lumia 800 Ino-Scent looks a lot like a 3D camera-phone, the ones with two cameras side-by-side that seemed popular last summer. However, Nokia is clearly doing something completely different!
The leaked images show how the dispenser has been integrated into the polycarbonate body of the smartphone, along with what seems to be a refillable scent holder. We’ve no idea how it works but from the product shot it looks like its activated using the dedicated Windows Phone app, no doubt to trigger scents and fragrances when you’re chatting with friends or social networking.
Bizarre as it sounds, this is all looking pretty legit as far as we can tell, as the report goes on to cite Nokia Senior Product Manager, Tuukka Järvenpää as heading up the project. Commenting on the device he’s quoted as saying, ‘Sharing scents and smells is the missing factor of any shared online experience and we feel that with this smartphone we’re taking the first steps into a whole new user experience.’
We’ve no idea if the Nokia Lumia 800 Ino-Scent will be hitting stores here in the UK any time soon but we’re pretty excited about it. To make matters worse, it being weekend, we couldn’t get anyone at Nokia UK to respond to our queries but we reckon it’s got that sweet smell of success all over it.
So, what do you think, is the Nokia Lumia 800 Ino-Scent something you’d like to get your hands on? Let us know your thoughts in the Comments below.
