Nokia Lumia 900 Dark Knight Rises: 10 things you need to know!

As a warm up to the blockbuster movie of summer 2012, Nokia teamed up with Phones4U to launch the super limited edition Nokia Lumia 900 The Dark Knight Rises Windows Phone, which comes with a special laser etched logo and is packed with a special features and an app that lets you tap into everything Batman.

The app has now appeared on Windows Phone Marketplace and can be downloaded by anyone already owning a Nokia Lumia 900, so we early bids don’t need to miss out on the Bat-fun obviously, as well as anyone with a Nokia Lumia 800, Nokia Lumia 710 or brand new Nokia Lumia 610.

The Nokia Lumia 900 Limited Edition The Dark Knight Rises Windows Phone app looks amazing and takes its design cues from the Windows Metro UI interface, so not only does it looks and feel alive, you can pin it to your homescreen and see updates pop up a they come in.

The second design feature is that it, naturally, uses the design features of The Dark Knight Rises movie itself, so we get deep blacks, the razor sharp slashes of white and silver highlights. It looks amazing and really picks up the spirit of the movie.

Open the The Dark Knight Rises Windows Phone app and you’re presented with the Showcase page, which offers up Movie Trailers, Wallpapers and even a choice of ringtones to personalise your Nokia Lumia even further.

Next up is the Gotham City game, which is a Foursquare-based game that lets you check into places and depending on whether you wish to play as Batman or Bane (if you’re crazy enough!) and defend or claim the place in the name of your chosen hero! Each time you check in you’ll get reward points and a chance to hit the leaderboard.

The more points you get, the more rewards can be accessed through the app, and the chance to defend even more locations. These are flagged up on the next page, as there is a specific Rewards tab.

Theatres is the next swipe and gives us a countdown to the big day itself. The Dark Night Rises hits cinemas on the 20th July, so the countdown is at the mid-40s at the moment. There is a neat Batman logo overlaying the map of your current logo, tap on it and you’ll be pushed through to a page that shows up the cinemas in your area.

Is the Nokia Lumia 800 Batman The Dark Knight Rises the rarest Windows Phone ever?

Finally, there is an Info page that gives you general information on the movie itself, the cast and even allows you to tap int the Fanbuzz via Twitter.

The Dark Knight Rises App review for Windows Phone is a nicely rounded app that clearly has had a great deal of thought put into it, making it more than just a news feed. To get the app all you need to do is tap into the Marketplace on your Nokia Lumia smartphone and as it works on all four, you don’t need the limited edition Nokia Lumia 900 to make the most of it.

Why does everyone keep saying that the app is available for all Lumias. Clearly, that’s not true. Can’t download it on my Lumia 800, and a lot of people around the world, are having the same problem.
