Nokia Music 3.1 firmware update tunes up your Windows Phone

The Nokia Music 3.1 firmware update has been added to the Nokia Collection of Windows Phone Marketplace and is being made available to all Nokia Lumia 900, 800, 710 and 610 owners. We’ve already bagged it on our Nokia Lumia 800, so it’s worth checking to see if you have too!

To give it its full title, the Nokia Music 3.1.80.954 firmware update has started to roll out around the world and we’ve already been lucky enough to get it on our Nokia Lumia 800. It’s essentially a bug fix update. So you won’t see any new features, but you may well find that it’s a little slicker and more robust.

Everything you need to know about Nokia Music

Nokia Discussions revealed the Nokia Music 3.1 firmware update was rolling and gave a nice little reminder of the features that came with Nokia Music 3.0, so if you’re using an older version it’s well up updating as you’ll be able to get ahold of:

Changes in Nokia Music v3.0 include;

  • Mix Radio – The end-user will be able to ‘pin to start’ and ‘make available off line’ playlist from their ‘create’ and ‘personalise’ section.

  • New tab ‘recent mixes’ will display tracks and mixes that the end-user has previously listened to.

  • New features in Gigs – Improve updates nearly up to 100 more Gigs that are happening in the area. End-user can now search by artist, venue, location and gig name.

  • The player has a new swipe feature and the end-user will be able to share what they are listening to via SMS, email and messaging.

  • The end-user will be able to purchase tracks and albums from the music store using your credit card in the application as well as redeem music vouchers.

The update will be available in Marketplace for the following regions/countries that already have the 2.x version on the Lumia devices: Germany, UK, France, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Singapore, Russia, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, Portugal, Ireland, Brazil, Finland, Norway, Poland, South Africa, Mexico and Australia. This version is now also available in China, India and Indonesia.

If you find that the Nokia Music 3.1 firmware update doesn’t show up as such in the Download section then here is a neat tip for you, nip into the Nokia Collection and choose the Nokia Music app and see if the update is there.

We tried this with our Nokia Lumia 610 and sure enough, the update was waiting – just hadn’t made it as far as the notification, so we simply downloaded it and there you go!
