Nokia Lumia 920 and Nokia Lumia 820: tech spec and side-by-side comparison (Photo Heavy)
The Nokia Lumia 920 and Nokia Lumia 820 are in our possession and bursting with possibilities – what do they offer, which one is better looking, which one should you buy? Here we take a look at the tech spec and lay them out side-by-side.
The Nokia Lumia 920 is a 4.5-inch smartphone with an IPS LCD display that comes with PureMotion HD+ technology to make it the fastest refreshing screen on the market. It delivers a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels and delivers 332 pixels per inch, making it a stunning visual treat.
By comparison, the Nokia Lumia 820 is a 4.3-inch AMOLED screen with ClearBlack screen so you can use it out doors with ease. You’ll find a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels and with 217 ppi you won’t find the screen quite as bright but we’ve been pleasantly surprised at how good the screen looks in every day use, especially outdoors.
Both displays come with a super-sensitive touchscreen screen so that you can access the screen with ease whether using a finger tip, finger nail, gloved hand or the tip of a pen.
The Nokia Lumia 920 comes with wireless charging built-in as standard, while the Nokia Lumia 820 can add it using the wireless charging shell. Fortunately, here in the UK the Nokia Lumia 820 ships with the charging shell, so there is no difference between either device in that respect.
The Nokia Lumia 920 comes with a 8.7-Megapixel PureView camera with Carl Zeiss optics and short pulse high power LED Flash, which means you’ll be able to take amazing photos in low-light conditions. The main selling point of this camera, though, has to be the inclusion of Optical Image Stabilisation to deliver the best video yet seen on any smartphone.
The Nokia Lumia 820 in contrast comes with an 8-Megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and dual-LED Flash. While on the surface this looks the same as with the previous generation of Nokia Lumia handsets, you’ll find the digital zoom has been improved and video capture now supports 1080p as well as 720p.
The Nokia Lumia 920 can be yours on a variety of contracts from EE, T-Mobile and Orange. If you’re looking for the handset for free, Orange is offering this deal on its Panther 41 offering 900 minutes, unlimited texts and 1GB of data for £41 a month over a 24 month plan.
If you want to switch up to 4G for the fastest data speeds possible, you’ll find that for a one-off payment of £19.99 and then £41 a month you can get the Nokia Lumia 920 on EE with unlimited calls and texts and 1GB of data allowance a month. You’ll find both these plans at Phones 4u
The Nokia Lumia 820 costs £379.95 (inc. VAT) SIM free but you can also pick it up on deals from as little as £25 a month at Carphone Warehouse with a free handset.
Tesco also has the Nokia Lumia 820 on a range of tariffs and is even throwing in a free wireless charging plate.
