The Nokia Lumia 920 and Nokia Lumia 820 are set to receive the Windows phone 8 PR1.1 update, known as Portico, over the next couple of weeks. With the rollout set to be complete by the end of February. Read on to find out more about the Windows phone 8 PR1.1 update.

The Windows phone 8 PR1.1 update for the Nokia Lumia 920 and Nokia Lumia 820 rolled out recently to some customers in North America. Thankfully, it has now started to appear globally, as has been announced on the Nokia support forums.

Nokia Community Manager Micheals, posted the following message: ‘A Nokia Lumia Windows Phone 8 software update providing performance enhancements for the Nokia Lumia 820 and Nokia Lumia 920 has started rolling out over the air. Delivery will continue in a phased manner over the coming weeks and is expected to be complete by the end of February. You will receive a notification on your phone when the update is available for you to download.’

This means you’ll need to keep an eye on the Phone Update page on your Nokia Lumia handset. With no details on how this ‘phased manner’ will appear we’ll have to assume that it will be by build number rather than region, which has always been the Nokia way.

UPDATE: It looks like the gun may have been jumped on this story. WPCentral has posted an article stating the update is on the way but not yet globally available. Once we hear anything more we’ll let you know.
