Nokia Lumia 520 super-budget Windows Phone 8 smartphone announced
The Nokia Lumia 520 has been announced at MWC 2013. Following hot on the heels of the Nokia Lumia 620, this 4-inch smartphone is set to be the new entry-level smartphone in the Nokia Lumia Windows Phone 8 range. Read on to find out more about the Nokia Lumia 520.
The Nokia Lumia 520 has been officially announced as ‘the most affordable Windows Phone 8 smartphone so far’ yet is still designed to deliver a full Windows Phone 8 experience backed with the full power of the Nokia portfolio of apps, such as Nokia Maps, Nokia Drive and Nokia Music.
Like the Nokia Lumia 620 before it, you’ll find a 1GHz dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM, 8GB of storage and a 5-Megapixel camera. However, with a 4-inch screen it’s aimed at those who want more real estate, either for easier web browsing, better navigation using Nokia Drive, or as a large viewfinder for an even better camera experience.
One feature missing on the Nokia Lumia 620 was the super-sensitive screen we first saw on the Nokia Lumia 920 and Nokia Lumia 820. Well, it’s back with a vengeance on the Nokia Lumia 520, which means you can use the larger screen when wearing gloves outside, for example, or use it with a stylus or fingernail.
The battery on the Nokia Lumia 520 is a 1430mAh pack that offers up to 9.6 hours of talk time on 3G, 360 hours of standby and up to 61 hours of music playback.
The Nokia Lumia 520 is set to be offered in a range of colours, starting with yellow, red, cyan, white and black. The shells are interchangeable so you’ll be able to personalise your Nokia Lumia 520 to match your mood or you needs.
The Nokia Lumia 520 is set to start shipping in March, so not long to wait at all, and is expected to cost €139 before country taxes, which is staggering considering the size and tech tucked away inside this phone.
