Nokia Messaging goes live – no longer nokia email
Nokia Messaging, Nokia’s new email app/service combo has just dropped out of Beta and into the land of reality. Now available to download, Nokia Messaging is still a trial service but the app is a far cry from its beta predecessor. Alongside improved navigation and better syncing performance – it now actually works – we get a host of new features. We’ve already downloaded and had a little play and can happily report, all they say is true. It’s rather lovely. Continue reading>>
Firmware updates for N95 and N85 now available
Nokia may have a swanky new mobile in the works, but it’s still got some love for the older generation.
The N95 and N85 are the latest handsets to be visited by the firmware fairy, so you can bring your phone bang up to date with the latest, greatest fixes and features.
26 reasons your Nokia will survive a beating
Yesterday we met a bunch of guys who’s job it is to break phones. Kevin Smith and Robert Johnson, who work at Nokia’s relability labs in Nokia’s UK HQ reckon if they don’t break phones, they’re not doing their job properly. Sounds easy doesn’t it. After all, I don’t seem to have much trouble killing mine (though I have to admit, it’s been a while since I’ve had one collapse completely). But no, these guys do it the sophisticated way. They have machines that can press a keypad 1 million times, a device made of denim that spins around to simulate the way we (or at least I) rub my phone’s screen on my jeans to clean it. They have even cracked the hardest one of all – an abrasion test to simulate the inside of a woman’s handbag. And no, I didn’t put my hand inside.
Comes with Games, Comes with Film
Nokia has revealed it is “open” to taking the Comes with Music concept to games and films. Talking to New Media Age (NMA), Comes with Music head of go to market Tom Erskine revealed that there’s “room for fresh business models with games and videos. It’s something we’re open minded about”. Okay, so he hasn’t said it’s going to happen, but we’re not talking about adding two and two and getting five here. It makes complete sense. An NGage device with a whole year’s worth of games! Where do we sign?
John ‘N95′ McCain Vs Barrack ‘E71′ Obama
It’s a big day in American politics, and although we across the pond in the UK are far removed from it, we’re under no illusions to the scale of what’s happening in the US. So, we thought we’d try and explain it for the UK readers a little, in the language you know best, by highlighting the features and functions that set the N95 (McCain) and E71 (Obama) apart.
McCain, like the N95 is now a bit of an old bruiser. Sure, there’s newer, younger models around, but like the N95, McCain has seen and done it all. Barrack, on the other hand is sleek, like the E71, much slimmer, like the E71 and still has all the bells as whistles of the N95 (for the most part at least). He might be missing some of the action movie (or in the case of the E71, movie action) antics of his competitor, but with his way with words (and the E71′s way with letters) there’s no doubting he means business.
